Micah Subar’s latest EP release, ‘Sure Footed,’ brings a fresh energy and twang to the themes of love, loss, and nostalgia that are hallmarks of Micah’s masterful songwriting. It started as a solo production, but prominent session drummer and producer William Mapp (formerly of Courtney Marie Andrews) joined in as a collaborator playing drums, helping to record, and mixing all songs on the EP.
The songs are artfully folky with a modern Americana sensibility. They pay homage to the great singer-songwriters of the 60s and 70s with a sense of groove that feels grounding and present. While coming from a period of growth and challenge that was the early 2020s, they feel light and hopeful with tasteful guitar-driven instrumentation and pristine minimalist production.
