Raised on dairy farms and country music, Shelby Dressel and Megan Gertken form the Nashville-based country duo, the Dairy Daughters. Shelby grew up in Avon FL and was a Top 40s finalist from season 9 of American Idol. This led to a performance on Ellen. Originally from Albany MN, Megan Gertken has played the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, and performed across the US, Canada and Europe during the 2013 America’s Got Talent tour. They met in Nashville, onstage at the world famous Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge. Farm-raised old souls with country roots, Dairy Daughters blend a sound of sisterly harmony, acoustic strings and warm fiddle. The music is broken down, feel-good, back-porchy songs that are relatable and ring true to their morals and who they are, using simple truth and endearing lyrics. The Dairy Daughters sound is inspired by the vocal bluegrass tones of Patty Loveless and classic melodies of George Strait. It’s easy listening grass fed organic country gold!
Their new single “Being With You” was written with Don Goodman (“Old Red,” Blake Shelton & “Angels Among Us,” Alabama) and released on Valentine’s Day, 2022. When you’re in a relationship with your complete opposites but opposites attract, it might not make a lot of sense but you have fun together and enjoy time spent with that person. “I guess I just like being with you.”
